Flipkart is an Indian e-commerce giant based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is also incorporated in Singapore as a private limited company. Flipkart was founded in 2007 by IIT alumni Binny Bansal and Sachin Bansal as well as former Amazon employees. It initially focused on selling books and country-wide shipping. Over the years, Flipkart has acquired Myntra, positioning itself in the apparel market as well as bought PhonePe, a mobile payment service platform. In 2018, US-based Walmart acquired 77% controlling stakes in Flipkart. At present, the platform offers all kinds of products ranging from home appliances to electronics.
